Go to the ETS website for the GRE Subject Test. Download a GRE Subject Test practice book. The makers of the test provide test takers with a full-length test for each GRE Subject Test subject. The practice book also contains an answer key to the test, test-taking strategies and information to help you understand why you earned the score you did on the practice test.
Familiarize yourself with the format of the test. The test lasts two hours and 50 minutes. You will have that amount of time to read the test questions and mark your answers on a separate, machine-scored answer sheet. Get to the point where you fully understand the test directions during your practice for the test. This strategy allows you to spend more time on the questions themselves, rather than waste time on reading the directions during the actual test.
Review your college courses in your chosen subject. According to ETS, the organization that develops, administers and scores the GRE Subject Test, a general review of your college courses would be the best review for the subject test. You cannot cram for the GRE Subject Test at the last minute and expect to do well.
Show up at the testing center on time. Bring your admission ticket, a valid photo identification card and three or four sharpened No. 2 pencils.
Answer the easy questions first, and then tackle the tougher questions with the time you have remaining. All questions hold equal value, so do not waste time on questions that you cannot answer. You do not want to run out of time before finishing all the questions.
