Go to Microsoft Word and click on the blank document icon. Click on the "Table" tab and then click "Draw Table." A small pencil cursor will appear. Use it to click and drag a table that fills most of the page. Draw horizontal and vertical lines to create a grid. Highlight the entire table and then right-click on it. Select the option, on the menu that appears, to distribute the rows of the table evenly. Repeat this step, but this time select the option to distribute the columns evenly. The empty table will be the base for a preschool matching game.
Click on the "Insert" tab at the top of the screen, click on "Picture" and then click on "Clip Art." Decide on the theme for the preschool matching game and type in the appropriate keyword to find pictures that fit the theme. Select the pictures that you'd like and fill in the table that you created. Resize the pictures, if necessary, by clicking on a corner and dragging the image until it will fit into a cell on the table.
Create another table using Microsoft Word. Divide the table into six or eight equal areas. Highlight, copy and paste the table onto several more blank pages in the document. Use these blank tables to type in words and paste in clipart pictures that you have chosen for a set of preschool flashcards. Alphabet, color and shape flashcards are great for preschool sorting, patterning and identification games.
Save your Word files and use cardstock to print two copies of the matching game card table and one copy of the flashcards that you created. Use color ink for bright and bold pictures and black ink if you'd prefer to color in the pictures yourself. Laminate the sheets before cutting out the individual cards for the preschool games.
