Children in PK devote many hours to coloring and creating. A box of eight colored crayons is compact enough to prevent spilling, but still offers a variety of colors.
Children use glue sticks for everything from art projects to making letter boards, which means they're used up quickly. Purchase a package of six non-toxic glue sticks with purple glue, which becomes clear after drying. Seeing her glue marks will prevent your child from overzealous applications.
Painting and hands on activity dominate many PK classrooms. A full-sleeved smock that ties in the back is easy to slip on and protects your child's clothing and skin from paints, clay and glue.
Pack a complete change of clothing for both warm and cold weather in a large zip-seal bag and label your child's name on the front with a permanent marker. Include extras of all clothing items, like underwear, socks and undershirt, not just pants and shirt.
Paper towels, hand sanitizer, hand soap, tissues and a box of zip-seal bags are common on PK supply lists.
A padded mat, blanket and stuffed animal will help your child fall asleep at school. Some schools sell nap-mats, while others use cots and ask that you bring additional bedding from home.
