Mix one cup of cornstarch with half a cup of water in a shallow bowl to make a goopy substance for your preschoolers to play with. This mixture mixes into something that is sometimes liquid and sometimes solid, and gives you a great opportunity to initiate some scientific questioning. Have children guess what will happen when the mixture is manipulated and then observe the results.
Set up an indoor obstacle course for some preschool physical education fun. Lay out a jump rope for her to balance on, hula hoops to jump around, a mini-trampoline, chairs to crawl under and whatever other physical activities the two of you can come up with. Record the time it takes your child as she goes through all of the obstacles.
Fill a plastic dish pan with a variety of substances to make a sensory table at home. Some ideas for fillers include soapy water, cooked noodles, rice or corn starch. Provide your child with tools, such as spoons and small toys to play with, in the pan. Children develop their sensory muscles as they dig their fingers in.
