You need a blanket or sheet to play this game. One student leaves the room or turns his back to the circle of his classmates. One of the students from the circle sits or squats in the middle. The teacher covers the student with the blanket to conceal her identity. The student who left the room must figure out who is hiding under the blanket when he returns. This lets the kids practice paying attention to details to figure out who is gone. The child might also pay attention to clues like the size of the child under the blanket.
Kids indicate their agreement or disagreement with a statement by standing up in this low-activity circle game. All students start sitting on the floor in a circle. Ask a question with two possible answers. Yes and no answers work best. If the child wants to answer "yes," she stands up. Otherwise she stays seated. For example, you might say, "Do you have a pet at home?" Those with pets stand up to indicate their answer. Everyone else stays seated.
Two bean bags make up the list of materials for this circle game. This game works with the kids either standing or sitting. Two students next to one another each receive one of the bean bags. When you say "Go," the two kids pass the bean bags in opposite directions around the circle. The other students continue passing the bean bags around the circle. The goal is to get the bean bag to travel all the way around the circle and be the first to get her bean bag back.
Students sit on chairs in a circle. You need one less chair than the number of students to pick someone to be "it." Come up with at least three different fruits for the salads. Each child is named one of the three fruits. The person who is "it" stands in the middle and calls out a particular fruit. All of the students with that fruit's name have to get up and swap seats with one another. If the student in the middle says "fruit salad," all of the players have to stand up and switch seats. During the seat swapping, the child who is "it" tries to sit in one of the open seats. The new child left standing is now "it."
