Examine the fraction's numerator and denominator and see if it is already simplified to its fullest.
Divide the fraction by 2 and write the down the results. For example, if your original fraction was 8/10, your reduced fraction is 4/5. These fractions appear different but they are equivalents.
Use a calculator to divide the numerator by the denominator of both fractions to check your work. The resulting calculation should be the same in both cases. If not, go back and rework the problem to see where you made the mistake.
