Introduce the Spanish language with everyday language. For example, substitute saying "hello" for "hola" and "please" for "por favor" and have students do the same.
Use Spanish characters, such as puppets or even well-known cartoons like Dora the Explorer and Diego, to reiterate daily vocabulary words for students. These characters can also introduce new Spanish words, such as those for numbers, colors and shapes. This will teach kindergartners how to say things they already know in a new way.
Have students do Spanish learning worksheets. Teaching Spanish to kindergartners is similar to teaching them any new skill. By giving them worksheets or other in-class activities, it helps to review material repeatedly so it sticks.
Sing Spanish songs. Children learn quickly through songs and rhymes. Instead of singing nursery rhyme favorites in English, use Spanish.
