Start planning your end-of-the-year scrapbooking project in advance so you have time to collect the memorabilia you want to include in the scrapbook, such as photographs of the students throughout the year. When the time comes for your kindergarten group to put the scrapbook together, you will have these items ready to be glued onto the pages.
In addition to your collection, ask students what types of memorabilia they would like to include in their class scrapbook. They may want to put in their name tags, tickets from a school field trip or special notes from the teacher.
As a class, write an end-of-the-year-themed poem that will be used on the front page of the scrapbook. Start the poem with something like "This was a fun school year because ..." and let your students take it from there. As kids raise their hands to complete the rhyming lines, write their ideas on the board. Once your class is happy with the poem, transfer it onto your computer, print it out and paste it into the scrapbook.
Pass out blank scrapbook pages and let your kindergartners get to work decorating them. You might want to decide on a scrapbook theme first, such as "A Cool Summer," or let the kids have complete freedom to design and decorate the pages how they want. Provide art supplies, such as stickers, pompoms, felt, foam paper, pipe cleaners, sequins, glitter glue, puffy paint, craft glue and craft scissors. You also can give them paint, markers, crayons and colored pencils to draw on the background of the blank scrapbook pages.
Reserve room at the end of your class scrapbook for envelopes that will be filled with the names of your kindergartners. Give students small pieces of paper to write their names on. Then tell the students to place the pieces of paper inside the envelopes and seal them. Attach the envelopes to the last few pages of your class scrapbook with glue. This is an effective way to make your students feel like they are a part of the scrapbook, leaving a "we were here" mark.
