Have your students act out different bullying scenarios in front of the class. Afterward, have the students point out which parts of the scenario are considered bullying. Talk with the class about why these actions are not acceptable forms of behavior and ask them how they would feel if somebody treated them in that manner.
Declare an official "Kindness Day" in your class and assign each student with the task of doing something kind for another student during the day, such as sharing a snack, helping with classwork, or playing during recess with a student they haven't played with before. These activities will help build relationships between students and promote kind behavior in everyday situations.
Have your students sit in a circle and share stories about a time they felt bullied and how it made them feel. Through hearing one another's experiences, students are more likely to sympathize with one another and stray from the idea of bullying each other during class or out of class.
Assign your class with the homework task of identifying examples of bullying while watching their favorite television shows. The next day, have the class sit together in a circle and share their examples with one another.
