Special Needs High Schools

"Special needs" students are usually those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities or emotional and behavioral problems. These make it difficult for them to receive the help and education they need at the average public or private school. Several public school districts have set up high schools exclusively for special-needs children, and some private schools in the United States cater to these students with their own unique programs.
  1. Eagle Hill School

    • Eagle Hill School is a private boarding school in Hardwick, Massachusetts. The school is for students with attention deficit disorder, dyslexia and other disabilities. Eagle Hill admits both boys and girls in grades eight through 12. It has an annual summer camp for students ages 10 through 18. The school has clubs, sports teams and student activities, and organizes weekend trips in addition to its academic program. Eagle Hill has classes in computer applications, English, life skills, history, pragmatics, reading, the arts, science, world languages and mathematics. Students are allowed to develop their own courses of study each year, in tandem with advisers and parents. All students must complete a minimum of 200 credit hours to graduate.
