Clearway School, founded in 1975 in western Massachusetts' Middlesex County, welcomes students from grades 6 to 12. Classes generally have four students each. The staff has a full-time speech and language pathologist who makes classroom visits and assists in lesson planning, and students meet weekly with their academic counselor. Math, English, history and science courses take place in the morning, while afternoon sessions are divided between elective courses and individual and group instruction using the Orton-Gillingham teaching method. Transitional programs help students prepare to enroll in higher education or move back to the public school system. The school offers admission anytime throughout the school year and welcomes parents to observe while their child attends a day of classes before enrolling.

The Eagle Hill School in central Massachusetts welcomes students in grades 8 to 12 to their college preparatory boarding school and students from ages 10 to 18 for a five-week recreational-academic summer camp. An academic adviser meets with students to plan a schedule that blends traditional studies with electives and creative or performing arts activities. A pragmatics department works on self-esteem and socialization skills. Life skills topics help students prepare for college, prepare meals and manage personal finances. Reading and English courses help students prepare to learn an elective foreign language. The school complements the academic program with athletic teams, student clubs and planned weekend outings.
