Private Schools in Seattle

With a population of more than a half million people, Seattle has ample opportunities for your child's education. Private schools in the city include both religious and nonsectarian options. Most of the private schools offer a financial assistance program. Though the mission statements of each school may differ in wording, the goals are the same -- to provide your child with a well-rounded education that inspires him to become a creative leader in the world.
  1. Christian Schools

    • Bishop Blanchet High School on Wallingford Avenue North, is a co-ed Roman Catholic high school. In 2011, there were approximately 1,041 students with an average of 16 students per teacher. For students registered in an Archdiocesan parish, tuition fees are $10,620. For students of other faiths or who are not registered within an Archdiocesan parish, tuition fees are $12,312. Concordia Lutheran on 36th Avenue Northeast in the Wedgwood neighborhood is for preschool through the 8th grade. Concordia Lutheran has small classes and a variety of programs in academics and athletics. You must email them directly for complete admissions information and tuition fees.

    Co-ed Day Schools

    • University Prep in East Seattle is an independent school with a student body of approximately 462 in 2011, for grades 6th through 12th. Annual tuition for middle school is $24,130 and high school is $25,410. The Bush School on East Harrison Street near Lake Washington provides quality education for kindergarten through 12th. Bush has an average class size of 15 students. The athletics program includes 11 sports. Tuition ranges from $19,315 to $25,760.

    Jewish Schools

    • The Jewish Day School begins enrollment in preschool and serves through 8th grade. Providing an intensive general and Judaics program, JDS welcomes all students with or without Jewish lineage. Tuition starts at $5,347 in preschool up to $19,333 in grades 6th through 8th. The Seattle Jewish Community School is for kindergarten through 5th grade. SJCS is a small school with under 100 students in the 2010-2011 school year. A program for mild learning differences is in place. Tuition is $15,850 annually and does not include aftercare or hot lunches.

    Grammar Schools

    • Bertschi School is located on 10th Avenue East. The school provides a place for boys and girls in grades PreK through 5th. With about 233 students in 2011, each class comprises about 17 students. Annual tuition runs $19,390. KapKa Cooperative School provides an environment where parents interact with teachers in the classroom. With about 40 students in 2011, KapKa is community oriented. The annual tuition is $8,300. The school is located on Linden Avenue near Woodland Park Zoo.
