Peanut Guy Crafts

Peanut guy crafts are not just cute and fun to make, but they are also functional. This spring help your children tell time, make a pencil holder for dad, put on a play and learn about George Washington Carver, the man who discovered hundreds of uses for peanuts. Even better, any leftover peanuts from crafts make for a tasty snack.
  1. Peanut Guy Clock

    • Learning how to tell time can be difficult for children. A clock is an essential tool; children need to learn this important skill. A peanut guy clock craft is fun to make and parents can use it to help their children learn how to tell time. Cut a peanut shape and the peanut guy's arms, legs, and top hat out of construction paper. Glue the body parts and hat on the peanut. For the clock, cut a square shape out of yellow construction paper. Write the numbers on the clock and fasten two arrows (clock hands) on the clock with a brad. Glue the clock to peanut guy's top hat. Draw a face on the peanut guy.

George Washington Carver Peanut Guy Craft

    • Make a peanut guy craft to teach your children about a respected 20th century scientist, George Washington Carver. He developed crop-rotation methods and hundreds of new uses for the peanut. Paint a peanut to resemble Mr. Carver. Paint three other peanuts different colors. Put clay in the bottom of a shoebox and place the peanut guys inside. On the front of the box write this quote from George Washington Carver "We rise together or we fall together." Discuss the different uses Mr. Carver found for peanuts.

    Dancing Peanut

    • Preschool and elementary school children will enjoy making a craft that they can manipulate and interact with. This peanut guy will dance, tip his hat, and twirl his cane. Cut a peanut shape, arms, hands, legs, top hat, and cane out of heavy paper. Fasten the legs and arms to the peanut body with brads. Glue the top hat to the right hand and the cane to the peanut guy's left hand. Draw his face on with a black marker. Children can make several different movable peanut people and put on a play for their family to enjoy.

    Bird Feeder

    • A peanut butter and bird seed bird feeder is a treat for children as well as the birds. Introduce your kids to nature with this peanut guy bird feeder craft. Buy a coffee creamer container that's shaped like a peanut. Spread a thick layer of peanut butter over the container and roll it in birdseed. Glue on googly eyes and drinking straws to represent the peanut guy's arms and legs. Tie a piece of fishing line around the lid and hang the bird feeder outside.
