Collect rusty metal sheets, wire, cans, nails and screws or select the metal objects you want to craft and rust them. Use metal cutting shears to open the cans, then cut bells, angels, Santas and other Christmas-themed shapes out of them. To make a wreath, cut leaf shapes out the metal sheets, then arrange them around a piece of rusty wire. Attach nails, screws and bolts around the wire to fill the gaps. To decorate, pass a red ribbon through the wreath, tying a bow on the top.
Use rusty metal objects to create the pieces of a nativity scene or even a Halloween-themed display. Make small figurines by gluing or welding rusty metal objects, such as nails, bolts, hinges, sprockets, barbed wire, cans, horseshoes, paper clips, chains, keys or even tractor parts. As rust can stain your furniture, do not forget to place your craft on a piece of wood, glass or thick paper.
Create decorative sculptures by using old and rusty car, bicycle and tractor pieces, buckets, plows, chairs, wheel barrows, mesh wire and anything else you can find in a scrap metal depot. Seek inspiration in your favorite artists and his work to create your masterpiece or simply allow your creativity to flow.
Use rusty cans of different sizes to create personalized lanterns. Cut out the eyes and mouth to make a Halloween lantern or cut out star or circular shapes all over the can to produce a garden lantern. Cut out your friends’ names and give them as presents, but do not forget to put a small candle inside. Use rusty thimbles and forks to create a candle holder. Put the fork in a horizontal position and glue the base of the thimble on the top of the fork. Place the candle in the thimble.
