Distribute the passage that the children will read from along with the FQR sheet.
Hand out three pads of different-colored sticky notes. Explain to the students that one color will be for facts, another color will be for questions and the final color will be for responses.
Explain to the children that any material presented in the passage as truth, law or evidence should be considered a fact and written on the sticky note pads for fact along with the page number. Tell the children that any confusing text they encounter or ideas presented in the text on which they need clarification to better comprehend the passage should be written on the questions sticky notes along with the page number of the text in question. Inform the children that any personal feelings they have about the passage should be written on the response sticky notes.
Have the students transfer the facts, questions and responses they wrote from the sticky notes to the appropriate fields on the FQR sheet. Discuss the passage and FQR results with the class.
