Select the children's book you want to use to explain a point of view under study. For example, you may have the students read a book in which a point of view is evident. You may want to choose a short book at first, so as not to overpower the students to understand.
Define the point of view from the book you want to teach. Explain to the pupil what the point of view of the book is before having him or her read the book. You can also summarize the whole idea in the book. Make the point of view simple to the pupils in a way that will help them identify it.
Tell students to take notes as they read through the book. Have them write down points that illustrate the author's point of view. Take time to explain how he or she should take the notes down for better understanding, and encourage small group discussions. Doing this urges the students to communicate and helps the students make new friends.
Assign the students an essay about the point of view. Refer them to their notes to help them develop ideas on what they are going to write. The essay can either be written when the students are in class or when at home, but should not take more than two days to ensure they don't lose track of the topic.
Discuss the point of view essay assignments with the students. Take this opportunity to explain in detail the point of view to the students. For example you might explain a point of view of a book being "Effects of lack of education." State the point of view in a way that it is easily comprehensible by the students.
