Most SWAT schools only accept students who have experience working in law enforcement as police officers or who have experience as active military personnel. Basic SWAT classes typically require officers to have at least two years of experience along with a good record and positive evaluations from their departments. Because advanced classes are more difficult and intense, advanced programs usually require prospective students to also have prior experience regarding SWAT tactics and to provide proof that they have already passed a Basic SWAT course.
