Freshman admission into the School of Nursing requires students to meet the general admission testing and subject requirements of UCLA.
Students must take the SAT Reasoning Test and two SAT subjects tests, or they must take the ACT Assessment and Writing Test. UCLA only accepts scores from tests taken during the same sitting.
Coursework submitted for admission into the School of Nursing must include: two years of history and social science; four years of college preparatory English; three years of mathematics, including advanced algebra and two-dimensional and three-dimensional geometry; two years of chemistry, physics or biology with lab; two years of foreign language instruction; one year of visual or performing arts; and college preparatory electives, such as one additional year of study in English, advanced mathematics, science, foreign language or visual and performing arts.
Students with at least a 3.0 grade-point average and less than 60 units completed can transfer into the freshman applicant pool of the School of Nursing. Students with more than 60 units completed are advised to complete their current course of study and then transfer into the Master of Science in Nursing graduate program.
Transfer students into UCLA's School of Nursing compete for a limited number of openings and must meet the following academic criteria: 60 semester transferable units or 90 quarter transferable units, a 3.2 GPA or higher and completion of the non-nursing coursework.
For consideration for admission into UCLA's School of Nursing, freshman and transfer students must submit the appropriate admission forms and supplemental application packet, which includes a list of work and volunteer activities, self-assessment of your potential for success at UCLA in the nursing profession and two personal references.
