How to Report SACSA Levels

The South Australian Curriculum Standards and Accountability, or SACSA, gives teachers, parents and students a gauge of student learning from birth to year 12 of schooling. Learning areas include arts, English, physical education, science, religion and design and technology. Curriculum bands are divided into early years (birth to year 2), primary years (years 3, 4 and 5), middle years (years 6, 7, 8 and 9) and senior years (years 10, 11 and 12). Educators report a child's SACSA levels through oral and written reports.

Instructions

    • 1

Record your student's achievement using the SACSA curriculum standards for a student's age group. To achieve the standard, a student must have met the learning area requirements for each subject.

    • 2

Provide, as the teacher of the student, written and oral reports to parents at least twice a year. If a student is new to the curriculum, you must include a new student report, which assesses the student's achievement of the SACSA standards. Oral reports can take the form of individual meetings with the parents of students in your class.

    • 3

Write your reports in clear and easy-to-understand language to provide parents with the accurate information they need to track their children's progress.

    • 4

Write your reports using five achievement levels for each learning area required by the SACSA. These standards are: A (excellent achievement), B (good achievement), C (satisfactory achievement), D (partial achievement) and E (minimal achievement).

    • 5

Write a second report that shows a student's achievement in comparison to other students in his class, if a parent requests comparative information. In some instances, a parent may want to know how her child is progressing in comparison to other students in the class.
