How to Convert a Gram

The unit grams, abbreviated g, measures the mass of an object in the metric system. Other metric units for mass include kilograms and milligrams. In the American system of weights and measures, other mass units include pounds and ounces. You may need to convert a measurement in grams to another unit to compare the relative weights of two different objects.
