Sine is a trigonometric function defined as either f(x) = sin(x) or f(x) = a * sin(bx+c). [a] represents amplitude and [b] represents period. Amplitude is basically the distance the graph stretches from the x-axis and period is the distance the graph stretches along the y-axis. [c] provides information about the graph's phase shift -- the location of the sine function on the graph. The TI-85 is a graphing calculator allowing users to graph trigonometric functions with ease.

Turn on the calculator. Press "GRAPH" and then press "F1."

Clear any entries in the [y1=] line by pressing the "CLEAR" button.

Enter the sine function by pressing the "SIN" button, then press the "x-VAR" button. Hit "ENTER."

Press "GRAPH," then the "F2" button to set your desired viewing window, if desired.
