There are quite a few chemistry sets available for purchase; both online and in stores. However, many of these contain only enough chemicals for one or two experiments. Additionally, the equipment and chemicals in these sets are often of poor quality, which sometimes makes it difficult to conduct the experiments. One alternative is to build your own chemistry lab. Before purchasing any chemicals or equipment, you should first get a book of chemistry experiments, so that you will know exactly which chemicals and equipment to buy.

1
Choose a location with a table and plenty of ventilation. It should also have access to a sink from which to get water, as well as dispose of liquids. Additionally, it should have a place to store unused chemicals and keep them away from your experiments, as well as your heat source.
-
2
Clear a workspace on the table. Make sure it is free of flammable materials and that there is enough space to work in.
-
-
3
Create a space for glassware and any other lab equipment, so that it is out of the way when not in use.
-
4
Store chemicals in a cabinet or on a shelf, away from the workspace, to ensure that none of them accidentally come in contact with the chemicals you are using.
-
5
Locate the fire extinguishers in a place where they are easily accessible in the event of an emergency.
