The Best Fundraising for an Elementary School

You probably remember when you had fundraisers when you were in elementary school. Today, fundraisers are still very much a part of ways that schools make money for anything from team uniforms, books, sports equipment or new facilities. Some of the best fundraisers for elementary schools are those that aren't complicated to arrange and which a lot of people can get involved and children can help out.
  1. Cake Walk

    • Cake walks are a simple way for elementary students to raise money because they don't really have to do anything but play a game. The students' parents are asked to donate a cake for the cake walk. The number of cakes will determine the number of games played. Money is raised when the kids purchase tickets for the cake walk. One variation of this fundraiser is to have kids walk to music in a circle that's divided with numbers. When the music stops, each student lands on a number. If a student's number is called, he wins a cake.

    Raffle Tickets

    • Elementary school kids can raise a lot of money selling raffle tickets. Kids can sell tickets to everyone they know such as family members, friends and neighbors. The student's parents can also help sell tickets to their coworkers and friends. On the day of the the draw, prizes such as cash and gift certificates are awarded to the winning tickets. All the grades can compete to sell the most raffle tickets per class. The class that sells the most tickets can be awarded with a pizza-lunch day. The individual or top three students who sell the most tickets can also win a prize.

    Breakfasts, Lunches or Dinners

    • Like a raffle ticket fundraiser, a breakfast, lunch or dinner fundraiser can generate a lot of money for elementary school children because a lot of people can be involved. Aside from selling tickets to family members, the event can attract a lot of people through advertising in newspapers, radio stations or church groups. This kind of fund-raising event should be combined with an activity such as a dance, musical entertainment or raffle prizes. Tickets may be sold in advance and at the door.

    Bake Sale

    • Everything from cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies and bread may be sold in a bake sale. The important thing is making sure there are enough products to sell to generate funds. Bake sales usually take place at lunch time once or a couple of days in a week, and kids can help sell after school. If parents aren't able to bake goods for the sale, donations can be provided by friends and family. Furthermore, instead of pricing the goods, a donation jar can be used. Sometimes this can earn more money because people may donate without taking any of the goodies.
