How to Make an Insect Aspirator

There are many ways you can catch insects. Some people use nets and others use their hands. There are however, insects so tiny that using a net would be impractical, if not impossible. This is where an aspirator comes in handy. One uses an aspirator by sucking on one tube with your mouth, and using another tube as a vacuum to suck the insect in. It is also commonly referred to as a "bug sucker," for this reason.

Instructions

    • 1

Drill two holes on the lid of the plastic bottle. The holes must be the same size as your straws or tubing.

    • 2

Tape the gauze over one end of the tubing. It is this end with the gauze that you will insert into the drilled holes, and it is this tube that you will suck.

    • 3

Stick the other tube or straw into the second drilled hole of the container. The holes must then be sealed tightly with the clay, but not so tightly as to squeeze the tubing shut.
