Homemade Cover & Binding for a School Report

The appearance of your school report can be almost as important as its content. Along with factual information, you will want to turn in a report that is neatly typed or written -- depending on the instructions -- on crisp white paper. The report's cover and binding, should be creative and aesthetically pleasing, to give your teacher a good first impression of your work.

Instructions

  1. Cover

    • 1

Open a word processing application in your computer.

    • 2

Type the title of the report about 10 to 15 lines down from the top and centered. Use a large, bolded font -- such as Arial, 20 point.

    • 3

Skip five lines, and insert a photo or graphic that pertains to the title, if desired. Some word processing applications come with extensive layout features. If yours does, you may want to embellish the cover with several additional graphics, strategically placed around the report cover. If not, then a simple, clean cover is certainly acceptable.

    • 4

Type your name about five lines after your photo or graphic.

    • 5

Print your report cover on a colored piece of card stock.

    Binding

    • 6

Place the cover on top of your report pages. Then place a second piece of card stock behind the report pages, to make a backing.

    • 7

Punch three holes, evenly spaced, along the left side margin of the report.

    • 8

Thread a piece of yarn or string through each hole, and tie each one in a bow to bind the report.
