How to Write & Learn With a SMART Board

Letter Writing

  Slide the Smartboard's activity selector button to "Letter Writing."

  Choose the letter you want your child to practice, or have him choose; if you do not make a selection within a few seconds the Smartboard will select a letter for you automatically.

  Watch the Smartboard's LCD screen to see how the strokes are made to form the specific letter.

  Imitate the strokes as closely as possible using any one of the three "Smart Writer" spaces on the screen. If you make the letter correctly, the Smartboard will give you vocal praise.

Number Writing

  Slide the activity selector button to the "Number Writing" activity.

  Press the "Go" button on the Smartboard. Choose the number you want to practice writing or wait a few seconds and let the device choose for you.

  Watch how the strokes are made to form the number.

  Repeat the strokes using one of the three "Smart Writer" spaces. When you write the number correctly, you will receive vocal confirmation and praise.

Spelling Fun

  Select the "Spelling Fun" activity using the activity selector.

  Watch the short animated sequence that plays on the LCD screen, displaying a three-letter word.

  Look in the background of the picture on the screen to find the three letters that make the word.

  Press the letters or write them in the "Smart Writer" spaces in the correct order to spell the word.
