Explain to the children that you are going to share a bible story that happened a long time ago and is true.
Ask the children to give examples of bad things that people do. Explain that the people who lived at the time of Noah were disobedient.
Hold up the word strip and ask the children to explain what it means to obey. Help the students understand that because Noah started building the ark even when his neighbors and friends laughed at him, he was being obedient.
Hold up the picture of the cloud and rain drops. Explain that seven days after Noah and his family entered the ark, the rain started to fall. Ask the children to count to 40 and explain that this is how many days and nights the rain fell.
Demonstrate with your hands how the ark must have rocked back and forth on the waters. Have your hands come to a stop and share that when the ark stopped moving, Noah opened the window.
Role-play with the children the actions of Noah and his family. Allow them to pretend to open the door of the ark and have all the family and animals descend to the ground. Show the picture of the rainbow and explain that God set a rainbow in the sky as a promise to never again destroy the earth with a flood.
Distribute the animal-shaped cookie cutters and allow the children to create their favorite animal shape in the Rice Krispies treats. Reinforce the learning by sharing that if Noah had not obeyed God, he and all the animals we love would have been destroyed.
Pass out the coloring pages and crayons and ask the children to color the ark and water. Encourage them to share the scripture story with their families.
