How did george mason learn to read and write?

George Mason was born into a wealthy and prominent family in Fairfax County, Virginia. He was educated at home by private tutors and later attended the College of William & Mary. It is not known exactly how Mason learned to read and write, but it is likely that he was taught by his tutors at home.
