Think of a dramatic event that occurred to you or someone else, or create a fictitious one. Write down your ideas to get a grasp of what your essay will discuss. Select your dramatic essay topic through the process of elimination by narrowing down suitable ideas from your list.
Outline the essay with an introduction, body and conclusion. Determine what will make up each paragraph in the outline. If your dramatic essay is in the form of a story, outline the plot in fragments for your body paragraphs. If in typical essay form, format a list of points and sub-points to discuss in the body.
Present the dramatic event in the introduction of your paper; discuss why the event is important.
Describe in the body how the event affected you. For instance, provide evidence of your affected state by your reaction to the event and how your reaction differed from a normal reaction, if at all.
Describe in the conclusion how the event changed you: Did you become a better person as a result of the event? If so, illustrate a point to prove your changed state.
