Begin your list of works cited on a new page. List your works cited in alphabetical order according to the author's last name of the work cited in your research paper or essay. Do not number your entries. If you cannot find an author's name for the source, list in alphabetical order by the title.
Use hanging indentation of 0.5 inches. The first line must be flushed to the left of the page and any subsequent lines must be indented 0.5 inches.
Underline the title of the work and type everything else in a normal font. Most entries begin with the author's last name, then first name. For example, to list a book as works cited you must format it in the following manor: Author's last name, first name. Book title (underlined). City of publication: Publishing company, publication date.
Type the author's last name, first name. "Title of Article." Title of Encyclopedia (underlined). Date. This is the formatting to cite an encyclopedia article.
Type the author's last name, first name (if applicable). "Title of work" (underlined). Title of website (underlined), project, or database. Editor (if applicable). Publication information or date. Date accessed. URL. This method is correct in formatting a website.
Format a newspaper, magazine or journal entry with the following template: author's last name, first name. "Article title." Publication (underline) Volume Date: page.
