MLA style is a method created by the Modern Language Association to be used to cite resources used when writing papers. MLA style is used typically with papers written in the fields of humanities and liberal arts. An author with a title refers to the author of a source who has a professional title, such as a doctor, judge or PhD graduate. MLA style, however, does not include the use of titles for authors. Simply cite the author by name, without adding the particular title.

Cite your author as you would all other authors, listing the last name then the first name, for example Hamilton, Kate J. For in-text citations, list the author's last name (without the title) followed by the page number referenced in parentheses, for example (Hamilton, 212).
