Begin with the author of the review.
His name should be listed in the order last name, first name, middle initial, and be followed by a period. For example, if the reviewer's name is Landley P. Wogbottom, your citation will begin:
Wogbottom, Landley P.
Enclose the title of the review in quotation marks and end it with another period.
Some reviews may not have a title. If your review does not, then move on. If your review were titled "Horrid Happenings at the Luna Moth Art Gallery," your citation would now read:
Wogbottom, Landley P. "Horrid Happenings at the Luna Moth Art Gallery."
Write, "Rev. of" and then the title of the work, show or performance, followed by the name of the artist, director or author of the work.
This is vitally important, and if you do not have this information you will need to search online or contact the periodical where the review was published to determine what exactly was being reviewed. The name of the show is not set off by any type of formatting other than proper capitalization, and the author or artist's name should be followed by a period. If the name of the show was "Butterflies in the Trash Heap," by Leonard Kinsman, your citation should now read:
Wogbottom, Landley P. "Horrid Happenings at the Luna Moth Art Gallery." Rev. of Butterflies in the Trash Heap, by Leonard Kinsman.
Follow up with the name of the periodical in which the review was published and the date of publication.
You should italicize the name of the journal if possible, but if your word processor will not support this type of formatting, you can use an underscore symbol to indicate that the title should be underlined. The date should be listed in the order "day month year"; the month can be abbreviated, while the year is followed by a colon. If the review was published in Garage Art on March 23, 2004, your citation should now read:
Wogbottom, Landley P. "Horrid Happenings at the Luna Moth Art Gallery." Rev. of Butterflies in the Trash Heap, by Leonard Kinsman. _Garage Art_ 23 Mar 2004:
Finish with the number of the page on which the review was located and a period.
For example, if the review was printed on page B4, your finished citation should read:
Wogbottom, Landley P. "Horrid Happenings at the Luna Moth Art Gallery." Rev. of Butterflies in the Trash Heap, by Leonard Kinsman. _Garage Art_ 23 Mar 2004: B4.
