Note the title of the pedigree chart, for example, "Smith Family Tree." Also take note of where the chart was created and the year of creation. If there is a known creator of the pedigree chart, also take note of this author.
Create a bibliographic entry for the pedigree chart. Begin with the chart's author, if available. Start with the last name first and follow the name with a period. This step can also include a company or other chart creator.
Type up the title of the pedigree chart, such as "Smith Family Tree," putting the title in italics and follow with a period. Conclude with the place of publication and the year of publication, if available. An example citation might look like this:
Smith, Jane. Smith Family Tree. Phoenix, AZ, 2005.
Remember to italicize the chart's name, a format we cannot show you in this article. All bibliographic entries should be double-spaced, with every line but the first line indented.
Use the title of the pedigree chart as an in-text citation. If you are writing a report and want to use an in-text citation, use a shortened version of the title surrounded by parentheses. For example, "The Smith family always stayed in the same area of Phoenix (Family Tree)." If there are no page numbers for the pedigree chart, just state the title in the citation. If there are page numbers include them directly after the title without a comma.
