How to Cite a Published Summary

Proper documentation allows a writer to indicate the sources they have used in their research. A citation, generally considered to be both the in-text entry and the bibliographic entry, gives credit to those sources and also provides verification of what the text is arguing. The citation styles of the Modern Language Association (MLA) and the American Psychological Association (APA) are the most commonly used. Published summaries, also known as abstracts, are cited differently in each of these citation styles.
