Adjust your word program settings for MLA style paper format. Double space your text, use a legible font, font size of 12 point, one space between sentences, one inch margin on all sides, indent the first line of paragraphs using the tab key and print your document on white, standard 8.5 X 11 inch paper.
Type the quote in your text surrounded by quotation marks, if applicable. Hit your space bar.
Type the name of the article and page number enclosed in parenthesis at the end of the sentence followed by a period.
Enclose the article or section title in quotation marks for shorter works like articles or italics for longer work like books. Hit the space bar once and enter the page number.
Your citation should look like the following: "Cluttered areas and benches invite injuries" (Black and Decker 2).
Label your Works Cited page "Works Cited" centered at the top. Follow the same page setup guidelines listed in the In-Text Citations section. Double-space the page but do not skip spaces between citations. Use a hanging indent (first line to margin, additional lines indented with the tab key).
Type the author's name on the trimmer guide starting with the last name followed by a comma and the first name. End with a period. Hit the spacebar. If your reference does not include an author's name use the name of the organization that published the guide.
Type the title of the publication in italics followed by a period. Hit the space bar.
Type the place of publication followed by a colon, then a space. Type the publisher followed by a comma and the year of publication and then a period. Hit the space bar. Enter the publication medium. Possible sources include Print, Web, Film, CD-ROM or DVD.
Example (use a hanging indentation):
