Instructions

    • 1

Open up your Web browser and go to the Citation Machine website (see References).

    • 2

Click "MLA" on the left side of the website. Click "Web Document" under the "Non-print" section of the new menu on the left side of the screen.

Fill out the form presented. The bottom of most websites usually displays most copyright information, such as the author's name. If the author's name cannot be found, it's possible to leave that part of the form blank. The title of the website should refer to the home page, while the title of the specific web page within that site should refer to that exact page.

Click "Submit" after you have completed as much of the form as you can. This will lead you to a page that gives you two different sections to pay attention to. Use the information in the top gray area for your summary of citations at the end of your essay. Copy and paste the information into your works cited or bibliography file. Use the information in the bottom gray area for your in-text parenthetical citations.
