Professional Acting Schools

The actor creates an imaginary world to thrill and entertain audiences. This craft is cultivated and nurtured in professional acting schools. Acting schools teach actors, with various levels of experience, technique, stage presence and business matters. Course instructors share professional experience from the industry to support the actor and give him the tools needed to perform on stage or screen.
  1. New York Film Academy

    • Students at the New York Film Academy work closely with film students to receive an overview of the work that creating a production entails. Acting students are exposed to screenwriting, crew work as well as perfecting the acting craft. Professionals in the film industry conduct classes and students receive training on-camera within the first week. A variety of students from around the world enter the academy with little to no acting experience.

    The Acting Corps

    • The Acting Corps is a short-term acting school in Los Angeles that has prepared over 3,000 actors for the stage. Twelve hundred of these actors have appeared in film and television. Courses at the school range from four weeks to nine months. Eugene Buica, the founder and director of the studio, appeared in over 50 productions and studied under Sanford Meisner.

    Elizabeth Mestnik Acting Studio

    • A student in any stage of his acting career can enter Elizabeth Mestnik's in Hollywood. The curriculum consists of three sections: The Meisner Technique, Scene Study and Beginning Acting. The director's gym gives the director a chance to work with acting students to practice and expand his knowledge. Six to eight actors work with a director in two-hour sessions.

    Circle in the Square Theater School

    • Circle In the Square is the only acting school "associated with a Broadway theatre." The school began preparing actors in 1961. Acting and musical theater are taught in two-year workshops and a seven-week summer program. Acting technique, dance for actors and musical scene study are some of the curriculum selections. Graduating classes perform showcases where members of the industry are invited to view.

    Beverly Hills Playhouse

    • Beverly Hills Playhouse offers classes for younger actors age 7 to 18, as well as audition classes and and commercial acting classes. The school is found in four locations: Beverly Hills, Los Feliz, San Francisco and New York. Administration groups within the school assist actors with locating agents, reviewing headshots and other business matters. Beverly Hills Playhouse focuses on the Katsela's teaching approach that correlates acting to the proper attitude.
