Grant Writer Schools

Effective grant proposal writing skills give nonprofit organizations an edge when seeking foundation, corporate and government funding for programs and projects. Successful grant writers can garner significant resources to augment donations from individuals. Formal training exists for those wanting expert advice and practice in the art and science of grant writing. Continuing education departments, certificate programs and masters degrees at universities all offer opportunities for mastering grant writing.

University of Illinois provides registration discounts to employees, students and alumni.

    Emory University in Atlanta

    • Instructors at Emory require grant writing students to bring laptop computers to class.

The Emory certificate in grant writing combines four classroom courses and an individualized online "capstone" course, and the university offers continuing education units (CEUs) upon completion within one year. Participants learn how to design projects and identify funding sources, as well as how grant writing fits into the overall development strategy of the organization.
