1989 Ford Probe Performance

The Ford Motor Company has assembled several lines of vehicles over the years. It manufactured the Probe line of automobiles, which are small, sporty coupes, between 1989 and 1997.
  1. Horsepower

    • In 1989, Ford manufactured a few different models of the Probe. Depending on the model, these Probes were fitted with one of two possible engines. The Probe GL and the Probe LX feature a 2.2-liter, 110-horsepower engine. The Probe GT features a 2.2-liter, 145-horsepower engine.

    Torque

    • The 110-horsepower engines found in 1989 Probe GL and LX models can produce approximately 130 pound-feet of torque. The 1989 Ford Probe GT's engine offers 190 pound-feet of torque.

    Fuel

    • The Probe GL and Probe LX made in 1989 offer the same fuel-economy ratings. These Probes offer 24-mpg fuel efficiency in the city and 31-mpg efficiency on the highway. The Probe GT made in the same year offers 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
