  1. Engines

    • Consumers have access to 1953 F100 trucks that have been fitted with six-cylinder engines offering 215-cubic-inch displacement. The other six-cylinder engine offered in 1953 F100s has a 254-cubic-inch displacement. Another engine option that Ford made available for its 1953 F100s is a Flathead eight-cylinder engine that offers a 239-cubic-inch displacement.

    Features

    • All models of the 1953 F100 feature three-speed transmissions. These vehicles were designed with round taillights, leaf springs and single-drum brakes. Unlike previous F100 models, the 1953 F100 features a slanted cab window and fatter fenders. This year's F100 offers more cab space than previous F100 models. The F100 made in 1953 does not feature turn signals or seat belts; these devices were not required by law at that time.

    Other Information

    • 1953 was the 50th anniversary of the Ford pickup truck. The horn button on these pickup trucks displays the Ford pickup's anniversary year. Deluxe models of the F100 made in 1953 were fitted with chrome grill teeth and a chrome gull wing on the sides of the hood. Eight-cylinder F100 models have a chrome "8" on the grill, while six-cylinder F100 models have a chrome three-point star on the grill.
