How to Pack Bottles

Traveling or moving houses with glass bottles should be taken with care to avoid smashing them during transportation. To pack them successfully requires careful attention so that the bottles do not crash into each other or make contact with other hard objects in the box or suitcase. It is important to pack them securely with bubble wrap, which can absorb any bumps that the bottles encounter, and then surround the bottles in a soft material for further protection.

Instructions

    • 1

Check that the bottles you are packing are sealed. If they have been unopened, keep them sealed until you have traveled to your destination. To secure opened bottles wrap tape around the bottle cap, and then seal it in a plastic bag.

    • 2

Wrap the bottle in a plastic bag. First, put it inside the plastic bag, roll the bag around the bottle and then secure it with lengths of tape. This will prevent leakages onto your clothing if the bottles break.

    • 3

Tape bubble wrap around each bottle. This acts as a shock absorber to take the impact when the bottles are in transit. Put at least two layers of bubble wrap around each individual bottle to maximize its effectiveness.

    • 4

Put each bottle in another plastic bag to safeguard the contents from spilling. Secure it with tape to prevent it from falling off.

    • 5

Begin packing your box or suitcase. Position the bottles in the middle of the suitcase so that the weight is distributed centrally. If you pack more than one bottle, leave a gap of 0.25 inches between each one, which can later be packed with clothes. Pack no more than three bottles per suitcase.

Surround the bottles with soft materials such as clothing or shoes. This will help protect the glass. Use your traveling clothes or towels to do this.
