Go to the source of the spring water. For instance, you can fill bottles for 35 cents per gallon at the Monadnock Mountain Spring Water facility in Wilton, N.H. At the Pocahontas Spring Water facility in Lynnfield, Mass., it is 25 cents per gallon. There is also self-serve at the Emerald Springs bottled-water facility in Seal Rock, Ore.

Bring clean, reusable water bottles with you. If not, then you may be able pay for them at the facility. The bottles you use can be plastic, glass or some other reusable material. Plastic, though, may be the best choice since it does not break as easily as glass, is cheap and can be recycled after it wears out.

Fill each bottle with spring water, then cap and put them in a secure place like a large shoulder bag or a corrugated cardboard box. Use something that is durable, since filled water bottles can be heavy.

Make certain that you are clean as you obtain the spring water and after you leave. Do not get water if you are sick or have sores on your hands. You do not want to introduce germs into the water or the faucet or fountain dispensing the water. Practice simple hygiene to make certain that neither you nor anyone else gets sick while trying to have a healthy drink.
