Obtain a book on the principals of art from the library or by purchasing one of your own and read about each of the principles thoroughly.
Gather a few pieces of artwork to observe the principles of art you find. These can be any classic artworks, or even local or amateur art. Any artwork will do.
Observe the artwork and try to locate the movement of the art. Does the art make your eye travel in any specific direction? The art does not necessarily have to have good movement. Your job is to critique whether or not the art incorporates successfully this important principle and how.
Analyze the rest of the principles in the artwork as you did with movement. Remember that not every piece of art is perfect. Understand what a good use of each principle is and look for whether or not the artwork accomplishes this or not.
Repeat with the rest of the artwork you have gathered to analyze until you have memorized all of the principles of art by referring back to your art book for the fundamentals of each principle during your art critiques. Once you are able to analyze all of the principles without looking them up, you have memorized them well.
