Take a digital picture of your keyboard. Download the image to the computer and print the picture out.
Look at the keyboard carefully to try and remember where the symbol keys are located.
Analyze the printed image of the keyboard and mark out the symbol keys with a magic marker. Walk away from the image and the keyboard for a few minutes.
Return to the printed image and write in the eliminated symbol keys as you remember them. Verify your written symbol keys with those on the actual keyboard. Repeat the exercise while trying to make fewer errors.
Cut sticky labels to the size of the symbol keys. Place the cut label on the symbol key you want to memorize. Practice typing these keys with your fingers placed in the home typing position, the eight keys where your figures should rest naturally.
Type four to five lines of symbols, using the keys that you can only reach with your left hand. Do the same for the right hand symbol keys. Avoid looking at the keys while you are typing; instead look at the screen.
Practice typing symbol key combinations with keys you can reach with both left hand and right hand fingers. Write four to five lines of symbol key sequences. Remember to watch and read what you type on your screen and not to look at the keyboard. Repeat this practice time every day for a few minutes a day. Do this for two or three weeks until you have fully memorized the symbol keys. Remove the blank labels from the keyboard.
