How to Memorize the Citric Acid Cycle or Krebs Cycle

The Krebs cycle is the complex process that all living cells undertake to break sugar down and turn it into energy. It has nine total steps that must be memorized through rote memorization. Similar to how you memorize the order by which blood flows through the body, the Krebs cycle can be easily memorized, as long as you know that the key is visualization.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a circular chart showing the name and chemical breakdowns for each of the nine Krebs cycle steps.

    • 2

Read through the list and put the steps to music. You can use any simple melody such as London Bridge or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

    • 3

Sing the song seven to 10 times, looking at the chart.

    • 4

Try singing the song without the chart. You may need to cheat at first, but you'll have it memorized in no time.
