How to Create Your Own Timetable of Periods

A timetable of periods can refer to literally any prehistoric or historical time on Earth. This means that you need to choose which periods you want your timetable to deal with before you start putting it together. A few different methods are available to choose from, depending on what you're using the timetable for. If you are completing it to be used as a teaching aid or as a class assignment, then you should fill in all the information for the timeline. However, timetables used as teaching aid can also leave some of the information blank, such as relevant dates and facts, to be filled in by students as a special project.

Instructions

    • 1

Print or write the time periods you're working with on blank sheets of paper. For example, a time period when vertebrates, reptiles and amphibians came into existence is known as the Paleozoic period. The Mesozoic period is when dinosaurs lives and humans emerged during the Cenozoic period.

    • 2

Bind the sheets of paper together in the form of a scrapbook. You can connect the pages to a binder or binder-style folder. You can also use a report folder that attaches the pages together at one side.

    • 3

Write information about each time period represented in your timetable of periods. For example, you could list the types of modern reptiles and amphibians, or ancestors of them, that exited during the Paleozoic period.

Add pictures to represent each time period to make the timetable more interesting and visually appealing. Pictures of what the first people looked like can be added to the Cenozoic period, and pictures of dinosaurs or dinosaur fossils can be added to the Mesozoic period.
