Look at other uniforms if there are other members on the same team who already have their names displayed. Ask to take some measurements to see how far down from the back neck opening of the uniform the name is placed.
Lay the uniform on a flat surface with the back facing you. Smooth out any wrinkles.
Place the name on the uniform. Iron-on letters are the easiest to apply, readily available and can be applied with a hot iron.
Move the letters around until they are centered across the width of the uniform and approximately 3 to 5 inches from the back neck opening. If you have exact measurements from other uniforms, use those to help with placement.
Using a ruler as a guide lay a strip of masking tape across the shirt to help you keep the letters straight. Remove the adhesive backs on the letters and place them evenly across the back of the shirt.
Heat up the iron to the recommended setting. Most letters will only require ironing for less than 30 seconds to stick to the fabric.
Flip the shirt inside-out when done and iron again from the inside. This will flatten out the letters and give a polished appearance.
