Type the beginning of the word, but stop before you reach the letter that needs an accent mark.
Press the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard if you're a Windows user. Press the "Option" key if you're a Mac user.
Continue holding "Ctrl" or "Option" key. For Windows, press the key with a single apostrophe: the ' key. For Mac, press the "e" key.
Release both keys, and then press the letter that you want to add the accent mark to. This creates a letter with an accent mark over it, such as é.
Use a resource, such as Penn State's Spanish Language Center, to find out how to type other Spanish accents. For example, for an "ñ" in Windows, hold down "~", and the "n" key.
