Contact your publisher. Ask whether the initial page of your document prints on the left-hand or right-hand side of the binding.
Keep track of how each page of your document will face. For example, if the first page of your document prints on the right-hand side of the binding and your document starts on page one, then all odd-numbered pages will be on the right-hand side and all even-numbered pages will be on the left-hand side.
Format your pages so that they are justified uniformly. Decide whether to justify your text toward the binding or away from the binding. Justify all right-hand pages to the right margin and all left-hand pages to the left margin if you want to justify away from the binding. Try both formats to decide what looks best.
Print a draft copy. Use your printer or desktop publisher's double-sided printing option if available. Select "Odds" or "Evens" to print if you do not have a pre-set double-sided printing option. Feed the printed pages back in, blank side towards the printer head, and print the opposite set of pages (such as odds or evens).
Check for formatting errors. Review for any typos or grammatical problems. Mark any sections that need correction.
Make the necessary edits, if any, in your desktop publishing program. Save the file and follow your publisher's guidelines for sending the file to be printed.
