Prepare a drawing with complete dimension of a simple steel chair using a 1/8 x 1" x 20 ft. angle bar.
Read and understand the operational manual of the gas welding equipment you bought or borrowed. Focus on equipment and operation safety.
Prepare your safety equipment, materiasl, tools and Gas Welding set. Assemble the gas cylinders and equipment. Secure the standing gas cylinders
Test the equipment per instruction on the operating manual. This should include purging and lighting the gases.
Cut the steel metal to size as drawn by steel hand saw. Fit and layout the pcs to prepare to tuck weld.
Open the cylinder valves, open the torch valve and light the welding tip to neutral flame. Make sure you wear your safety equipment.
Prepare to tuck the welding joint earlier prepared and start to tuck weld the metal without adding filler metal until finish.
Weld the tucked joint using first the 1/16 filler rod then full weld with the 1/8 filler rod.
Grind the excess weld metal to flat finish.
Test the strength of the weldment by sitting on top of the steel chair.
Take a picture of the chair and show it to your friends for comments.
